New choral music published with VOCES8 Publishing
Last year, my original choral setting of a Walt Whitman poem, JUPITER SHALL EMERGE, was a prize-winning finalist in a composer competition put on by the Grammy-nominated choral octet, VOCES8. Later that year, I was thrilled when they premiered the piece in their annual music festival in Dorset.
Now, I’m delighted to share that they have published the piece with their new publishing arm, VOCES8 Publishing. If you are a musician and would like a challenging piece for your choir to perform, or would be interested in a perusal score for yourself, I’d be honored if you’d give JUPITER SHALL EMERGE a consideration.
The piece expresses my own personal feelings at the end of a long and difficult season, that with patience and faith, the clouds will eventually part and we will be able to see Jupiter again. Walt Whitman’s text is a beautiful reflection on hope, long-suffering, and the assurance that the light will outlast the shadows. I hope that those who listen to and sing my setting will be able to experience the fullness of that beautiful sentiment.
